Code of conduct

The Company is committed to providing a safe, respectful, harassment-free, accessible, productive, and welcoming environment for all Chief Wine Officer event participants and The Company’s staff and contractors and the staff and other patrons of any venue utilised for the event, with equity in rights for all.

Activities and interaction

Everyone involved in The Company’s events, are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct.

(a) The Company expects that you / the Contractor and all participants, attendees, sponsors and The Company’s staff are treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.

(b) The Company expects that you / the Contractor are considerate, respectful, and collaborative.

(c) The Company expects that you / the Contractor communicates openly with respect for others

(d) The Company expects that you / the Contractor to avoid personal attacks directed toward other attendees, participants, sponsors and The Company’s staff.

(e) The Company expects that you / the Contractor is mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.

(f) The Company expects that you / the Contractor to alert The Company’s staff/organisers if you notice a problematic or dangerous situation, or someone in distress.

(g) The Company expects that you / the Contractor respects the rules and policies of the meeting venue, hotel, or any other venue.

Unacceptable behaviour

(a) Overt and/or covert acts of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.

(b) Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, sponsor, Company staff member, or other meeting guest will not be tolerated. Examples of unacceptable behaviour include, but are not limited to, verbal or virtual chat function comments related to any of the protected characteristics including gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin. Threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, Company staff member, service provider, or other meeting guest both in person or online.

(c) Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.

(d) Overt and/or covert acts of harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form will not be tolerated.

(e) Threatening or intimidating behaviour is not accepted.

(f) Sustained disruption of The Company’s activities.

(g) Anyone requested to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.

(h) Consumption of alcohol is permitting but only within a very reasonable level. Anyone deemed to be intoxicated will be asked to leave.

Safe reporting procedure

(a) If you / the Contractor are the subject of, or have been subjected to unacceptable behaviour, or have witnessed any such behaviour, please immediately notify the senior management at The Company. This can be done by email.

(b) If you / the Contractor are participating in an event, you can notify the member of The Company’s staff that is on-site.

(c) Anyone experiencing or witnessing behaviour that constitutes an immediate or serious threat to public safety is advised to contact emergency services and locate a venue phone and ask for security.

(d) Legal action may be taken if a criminal offence is suspected and, if appropriate, may be reported to the police or other relevant authority.
